African History
The Story of Africa this is an excellent survey of the history of Africa, from ancient times to the present, from the BBC. A great place to get some basic info on a topic or period in Africa history.
African Studies (Columbia Univ.) The African Studies Department at Columbia has an excellent webiste to get started with any research project dealing with an African topic.
African Studies (Penn) A wealth of information and resources here; you have to check it out for yourself. There is little that is not covered in one way or another.
African Studies (Southern Ill Univ.) Contains a good collection of links to some differnt topics related to African history and culture. There is also a link to the G.I. Jones photo collection, impressive photo arhcive of images taken by and important ethnographer of Africa.
African Studies (Univ. of Wisconsin) Another excellent African studies department, with another great collection of African Related Links (see left column of page).
Sub-Saharan Africa Internet Resources From Stanford Univ. Vast! Organized by country and by topic.
Africa Timelines These pages are constructed more from a "studies" perspective than they are a purely history play, but these "timelines" are really outlines of African history and culture, fully of links for further exploration. Professor Cora Agatucci maitains these pages at Central Oregon Community College. I think this would be an excellent place to begin a research project on anything African.
Triumph of Evil Frontline's website on the Rwanda genocides of the 1990s. A lot of interviews and articles analyzing these events.
Ambush in Mogadishu Frontline's website on the US intervention in Somalia in 1993.
The Last King of Scotland Foxlight's companion website for their movie about the Scottish physican who became advisor and confidant to Ugandan dictator Idi Amin Dada. There are both some clips from the feature film, as well as some archival video clips on the website.
