LAW LINKS
Oyez, Oyez, Oyez The Oyez Project at Northwestern University describes itself as A US Supreme Court Multimedia Database. Here you can find short biographies of Supreme Court Justices, as well as summaries and abbriviated texts of important cases. The site is easy to navigate and search.
History of the Federal Judiciary This is an excellent site for information about the history of the Federal Judiciary (not just the Supreme Court) in America. It is maintained by the Federal Judicial Center.
The New York Times Guide to the Supreme Court As with all web efforts of the Times, this site has a wealth of information, and is probably the best of the links listed here to get information about the current session of the Supreme Court.
Legal Information Institute at Cornell Law School. Like the History of the Federal Judiciary site, this is a rich resource, on law in America, in the case, not just federal courts, although there is a speical collection for the Supreme Court.
Law from bigchalk.com. An incredible site containing summaries and commentary on legal issues, as well as links and primary documents. Click on the red LAW at the bottom of the page once you get to site site. This is a good one!
H-Law is the homepage for an academic discussion list about legal history. Thier "links" are the best on legal issues on the web. There are many, many more links on H-Law than I have here.
Homepage for Profressor Ransford Pyle Professor Pyle, who teaches at the University of Central Florida, has some excellent mateirals on his cite. The most useful, I think, espcially for beginning students of the law, is his tutorial on how to brief a case.
CourtTV The website for CourtTV is actually more serious than you might expect. It is a good place to look for information about current cases in the courts, and transcripts and information about recent famous cases such as the "Unibomber" and the "Menendez Brothers," among others.
Findlaw is basically a search engine for legal information on the web.
Supreme Court Decisions 1937-1975 overlaps the Oyez site, but if you are looking for the text of a specific Court decision during this period, this site might might be easier to use.
Fairuse and Copyright at Stanford University Libraries. This is the best place on the web to find information about issues of copyright and "fairuse." Fairuse is the term given to exceptions to the copyright protections when copyrighted material is being utilized for educational purposes.
Information on Copyright and Intellectual Property This site, prepared by the librarians at The Johns Hopkins University is excellent, and deals primarily with copyright issues related to the World Wide Web.
